Microsoft Word for Mac includes many features that are similar to the PC version of the popular word-processing application. When creating any type of document you can add headers or footers. When you first type into the header at the beginning of the document, you must realize that the same header will appear on every page.
Change the settings to Microsoft Word. Click on the Margins button. Click on the Layout Button, then select 'Different first page' and click OK. Now you have a different first page header: To view this go to VIew on the menu bar and select Header and footer. For Windows Word 2007/Word 2010. Go to Insert on the Ribbon, click on the Header icon and then select Edit Header.
Locate the ' Design ' located under the title 'Header & Footer Tools' Check the box 'Different First Page'. You will then see the new 'Header' area.

Open the dot template file, I don't mean double clicking on the dot file, I actually mean open Word then use File Open and navigate to the template and open it. Now double click in the header area of page 1. You'll see on the Ribbon a 'Header and Footer' tab open right next to the Home tab. In the Header and Footer tab is a group called Options and in that group area is a checkbox labeled 'Different First Page', check that box.
Now you can set the first page header & footer to what ever you want and clear out the header for the second page of the template. Hope this helps Richard V. Michaels [email protected] Provides free AuthorTec add-ins for Mac-Office and Win-Office.
